DIGITAL IMAGING & PHOTOGRAPHY
INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL IMAGERY TECHNIQUES is a 40 plus hour POI that will provide each student with the technical knowledge necessary to select, and use digital cameras in support of law enforcement activities and special military operations, as well as select, purchase, and/or upgrade existing computer systems, which are to be used for digital imagery enhancement purposes. The students will be taught how digital images are created, captured and transferred; and be introduced to various digital imaging storage mediums (CD’s, cards, sticks and card readers). The students will then learn how to properly catalog, file and securely store digital images. Specific techniques instruction will also be given on how to take a digital picture(s) in the field, or while at the scene of a crime, download & process it as necessary, and then transmit the photograph, or video images to command level personnel.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY FOR SURVEILLANCE/RECONNAISSANCE is a 40 plus hours POI that will teach the surveillance officer, or tactical close target reconnaissance (CTR) operator how to use digital still and video imaging equipment to consistently produce high-quality evidence, or intelligence (analytical) photographs and video images. This is a heavy hands-on the cameras and computer course which not only teaches the student how to consistently take high quality pictures, but will also teach them how to download, and encrypt the digital images on site and then how to transmit them securely via the internet to virtually anywhere in the world.

DIGITAL IMAGING FOR INVESTIGATORS The 24 hour, three day Digital Imaging and Digital Evidence Integrity course will teach the attendee the importance of setting up an effective standard operating procedure protocol dealing with the preparation, creation, storage and final use of digital images as evidence in the legal system. The attendee will also learn how to produce and maintain a verifiable log and the equivalent traditional darkroom techniques that are applied relative to an individual stored digital image in order to conform to current legal guidelines regarding chain of custody of digital image evidence.
